I got tired of the sheers. It’s time to bring on the color!
Day 3 Smoocher: Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Fiery (matte red)
Don’t be fooled by the word “Tint” in today’s smoocher challenger. This chubby pencil is a glorious matte stain that will last for hours and several glasses of wine (not that I tested that or anything). The Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint ($24) goes on smooth, tasting of peppermint and deposits a thin pigmented matte layer of color. I love that using this product cuts out the lip pencil and lip brush, making putting on the perfect matte lip a cinch. It’s also a true stain so even though I bring it on a night out for touch-ups, I rarely end up having to use it again.
It also doesn’t dry out my lips like the usual matte lip stain (from Sephora):
Each of the matte shades boasts the high-pigment concentration we love from matte lipsticks, but unlike drying lipsticks, these stains are infused with a High-Performance Natural™ LipSurgence™ technology, which is clinically proven to increase moisture content by an astonishing 6000% after 28 days. Earth engineered from a proprietary blend of plant bio-nutrients, the LipSurgence™ technology quickly absorbs into the skin to deliver a surge of moisture on a cellular level, while boosting peptides to stimulate skin’s own regenerative system and assist in the formation of collagen. This proprietary blend effectively increases skin’s water content for a plumped up appearance. The result is naturally fuller, healthier lips without any irritation or stinging.
The True Test
I was smart enough to wait for Chelsea to win their soccer game this morning before going in for the first pigmented smooch. (Chelsea is my husband’s favorite soccer team and let’s just say he’s quite passionate about his sports. He’s still licking his wounds over the Niners’ loss in the Superbowl so I knew this Chelsea win would put him in the right state of mind, just in case I left him looking like The Joker)
Looking glamourous in my pajamas and Fraggle Rock ponytail, I applied my deep red lip and posed for him. He said, “looks really good, honey.” I went in for the kill, slowing approaching him, humming the Jaws theme song and laid a fat one on him. I slowly opened my eyes, fearing for what I would find, but au contraire — IT DIDN’T LEAVE A SPECK OF COLOR ON HIM! Just to be sure I swiped my finger over his lips and… NOTHING! (I did get a kiss on my finger which was very nice)
A long-lasting matte lip stain that doesn’t dry out my lips nor leaves a Joker smile on my hubby obviously gets 5 smooches!janna Tags Lip stain, Matte Lip, Tarte, Valentine's Day
