7 Days of Smooches Challenge: Day 4 Dolce & Gabbana Monica Voluptuous Lipstick
We’re going high-end lip for Day 4 of our Smooches Challenge with Dolce & Gabbana Monica Voluptuous Lipstick in Magnetic Monica ($33). Let’s face it… nobody screams sexy louder than Monica Bellucci. I can’t promise you’re going to look like Monica when you slick on this voluptuously creamy, pigmented lipstick but you can certainly try channeling her. And don’t think I didn’t try this pose in the mirror several times. Incidentally, I looked like I was self-massaging a neck cramp.
I loved the velvety feel of this lipstick and its satin finish. It also showed off some serious lasting power for a non-stain, enduring several hours of drinking and eating (and no, I wasn’t drinking and eating the whole time) and left my lips feeling soft. But on to the true test…
The True Test
My husband backed a way a little when he saw me coming for him. Like that’s going to stop me. I told him, “Babe, I warned it was going to get worse” and I gave him a big kiss. My lips are fuller than his so not only did I leave him with a berry statement lip but also left him with a berry statement mustache. And let me tell you, that statement mustache got worse and worse as he harshly tried rubbing it away with a paper towel. After much protest he allowed me to use makeup remover, which finally rid him of the rest of the lipstick but the memory obviously lingered. Several hours later I tried kissing him with a clean lip but he insisted I still had on the lipstick. I think I’ve scarred him forever. On a positive note — after kissing him and drinking a green smoothie my lipstick still looked freshly applied.
The Verdict
If this Challenge was all about what I thought of the product, this lipstick would get high marks for look, feel, and longevity. But as we all know this is a Smoocher Challenge therefore it pains me to give this gorgeous lipstick 0 out of 5 smooches.
