Drugstore Cowgirl: Beauty Binge’s Top 5 Drugstore Skincare Buys

I admitted in my very first Drugstore Cowgirl  post last year that I shamefully neglected drugstore beauty products since high school. Once I overcame my ignorance and embraced the treasure trove of amazing products found amongst the plastic and metal aisles, I quickly discovered favorites and integrated them into my daily routines.  This post is the first in a series highlighting my short list of the best drugstore beauty products.   Enjoy, my beauties!

1. Clean & Clear Instant Oil-Absorbing Sheets ($5) These bad boys are stashed in every handbag I own, taking the crown as my most essential summer beauty product.  I don’t care how pretty the packaging is on your rice paper blotting sheets.   I hate the way rice paper crinkles and feels, whereas the Clean & Clear Instant Oil-Absorbing Sheets are a soft film that visibly soak up shine without smudging makeup or leaving a powdery residue.

2. L’Oreal Sublime Sun Face Lotion SPF 50+ ($15) Fashionistas and beauty editors always stocked up on this super-thin power protector when traveling in Europe for its long-lasting, ultra-water resistant formula.  Now available in the States, this oil-free sunscreen lotion is suitable for sensitive skin.

3. Lumene Vitamin C+ Radinat Beauty Drops ($32) This potent brightening serum does double-duty as a pore and line-filling primer.  Packed with anti-agers and brighteners like Vitamin C, Arctic Cloudberry and Lingonberry , this smoothing serum is delivered in sterile individual pods.

4. Aveeno Active Naturals Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 ($13)  If you’re a regular reader of my blog you know my skin can be an ultra-sensitive drama queen, demanding constant attention and being treated with only the most healing and calming products.  This oil and fragrance-free moisturizer fits the bill as a noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic day cream containing healing ingredients like Feverfew, a natural ingredient related to chamomile.

5. Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser ($7) This moisturizing, non-soap cleanser has a creamy consistency that doesn’t strip or dry out my skin, nor does it leave a funky residue.  It also contains anti-irritants like chamomile and Vitamin E, and follows the sensitive skin product mantra of being fragrance-free,  noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic.
