(Environmentally Friendly) Sunday Splurge: Eminence Organic Skin Care

Leaves by Artem Yankovsky

Happy Earth Day, Bingers! What better way to binge this Sunday but on a brand like Eminence?  It’s an all-organic and bio-dynamic line (the company has been using sustainable farming and green practices to create organic products since 1958), and uses ingredients like cranberries, blueberries, and chocolate which you can literally see, smell, and feel in most of their products.  I know it’s a bit much to choose the whole brand for Sunday Splurge, but I feel like in honor of Earth Day we should embrace a family-owned company that invests so much in helping the environment (and because I love the products, of course).

Now for those of you devoted readers, you’ll remember that I make a spectacle of myself whenever I see an Eminence facial on a spa menu.  It’s a pricey brand so only the best luxury spas and salons carry it, and most spas usually have an option for a 90-120 minute Eminence facial  (around $200 – $300).  To have your face, arms, feet and legs smothered in these delicious products for 120 minutes is pure indulgence (hence my long-standing favorite spa service in the world, the Fire and Ice Facial at the Mauna Lani Spa on the Big Island of Hawaii).  It’s one of those lines that you want to buy the products used in your spa service because you’re dying to smell that good at home.

My favorite at-home Eminence treats:

Hibiscus Calendula Hydrating Masque ($49):  Even though this mask is advertised as an after-sun treatment for its cooling and healing properties, I use it whenever my skin gets bitchy and starts freaking out with random redness and sensitivity.  I will warn you right now if you do not like floral smells, you are not going to like this mask. It smells and feels like its floral ingredients.

Blueberry Soy Sugar Scrub ($48): My friend Jolene turned me onto this stuff and with one whiff I was hooked. It smells of freshly-picked mashed blueberries and uses ground flax seeds (anti-inflammatory) to exfoliate.   It’s also packed with antioxidant and hydrating goodies like  raspberries, black tea and sweet almond oil.  Yum.

Eminence Lip Trio ($60):  I know $60 seems like a lot for a lip kit, but there’s something about a 3-step (exfoliation, plumping, and hydrating) regiment that smells of freshly-cut citrus and leaves my lips soft and supple that makes it worth the spend.

Simply put — these products bring a little decadence into my world!   And of course, getting back to the holiday at hand, Eminence is extremely environmentally-friendly.  So spend this Earth Day eve giving back to the environment (kind of).
