Hello, my lovelies! Please accept my apologies for being MIA this past week. I was in LA at the E! offices the early part of the week and then I came home with a nasty cold. The only thing that can make me grumpier than being sick is being sick while being pregnant. I just rejoined the land of the living today and I’m ready to get back to beauty bingeing! I have some fun posts planned for the next couple weeks so make sure you check back!
I’m listing this past week’s E! Beauty Police columns. Keep in mind that even though the first half of each column is my snarky analysis, the second half is either a useful Beauty Bailout or Get the Look. For example, in the Karlie Kloss post you can learn how to make your cheekbones look more pronounced and highlight your skin to give it an ethereal glow. In the Beyonce post, you can find out how to fix a common makeup mistake (I’m not telling you what it is because I want you to guess!).
Enjoy the week, my beauties!Posted by janna Tags Beauty Police, Celebrities, E!
I had so much fun writing for E! Entertainment’s Fashion Police this week in my new daily column “Beauty Police.” Now, keep in mind E! has asked me to bitchy so don’t strangle me if I’m too tough on your favorite celebrities. But come on… JLo does look like a drag queen in the photo and Rita Ora shouldn’t have left the house looking like that. For copyright reasons I can’t show you the photos on Beauty Binge so I guess you’ll just have to click on the links below to see what I’m talking about! Be sure to check out the last post “Luxe for Less” to see some of my recommendations for best beauty bargains.

Hello my lovelies! I am SO excited to announce that I will be writing a snarky (let’s be honest… downright bitchy) daily column for E! Online for their Fashion Police brand. It started today and I don’t want to inundate you with posts so if you want to read them in real-time make sure you “like” my Facebook page here since I will be posting links to every column as soon as they’re posted. Also, at the end of every week I will put together a round-up post so you can click whichever stories appeal to you. Just keep in mind I’m being paid to be bitchy so don’t get too mad at me if I slam your favorite celeb.
First column: Beauty Police: Jennifer Lopez Auditions for RuPaul’s Drag Race in Makeup Fit for a Drag QueenPosted by janna Tags Beauty Police, Celebrities, E!
This celebrity, famous for her cat-shaped eyes, past marriage to royalty, and contract with an international cosmetics powerhouse showed up to premiere of her new comedy that stars two of the biggest comedians in the business in a stunning dress, sultry smoked eyes and really bad ombre mall hair. I’m sorry but if you can get the ombre look in a box at your local drug store, the look is officially over, at the least for celebrities. Aside from the awful color, her hair looked dull and lifeless, as though she had been using hotel shampoo conditioner and nothing else for the past month. And she had this strange part down the middle which seemed to accentuate the thinness of her hair and made the style ever more offensive. Her hairstylist needs to be shot or at least demoted to reality TV starlets.janna Tags Beauty Blind Item, Celebrities, Celebrity Beauty, Celebrity Blind Beauty Item, Hair, Limp Hair, Ombre, Oribe, Volumizing Products

Oh my lovelies, for those of you who follow me on Twitter or Facebook you know last night’s red carpet was simply traumatizing for this beauty addict. Where was the glitz? Where was the glamour? Since when did messy matronly updos become an acceptable trend? And where the hell was the red carpet makeup? Based on the majority of looks last night I’m pretty sure the LA makeup artists are on silent strike. That’s the only conclusion I can come to after seeing several starlets whose faces and dresses were both devoid of color. Luckily, a select few of the celebrities rebelled against the boring plague last night by actually showing up in black tie beauty (imagine wearing black tie makeup and hair to the most formal event of the year? How novel) and so yes, I do actually have a fewpositive things to say, but don’t expect too much sunshine and roses. Oh and by the way, in protest I refuse to show you Jennifer Aniston because you could honestly be looking at any photo of her from the past couple years. I just can’t condone it.
What did you think of the Oscars last night? Who were some of your favorites?

Since obviously all these looks are timeless, I thought I would bring this post back to life in homage of the Oscars tomorrow. Enjoy!
In honor of the Oscars tomorrow, as a huge movie buff, I thought I would count down the ten most beautiful and iconic hair and makeup looks of all time. My original thinking was I would include at least one trendsetting movie star from each decade — Madonna from Desperately Seeking Susan(1985), Julie Roberts from Pretty Woman (1990), Rooney Mara from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), etc. But when I started making my list I realized I just couldn’t spare a spot for these women. I had to make my decisions based solely on beauty and influence, and find the movies that made the actresses into style icons.

I’m not going to spend too much on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet because, um, it’s the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Enough said. BUT since the glitterati bothered getting all dolled up (thank GOD that frightful “no makeup” trend didn’t poison the SAG awards red carpet) I want to share a few of my favorite looks to both love and hate on. (And yes, for those of you who were wondering… Despite my past red carpet hate fests, I am capable of recognizing beauty when I see it. I mean it’s not my fault if the starlets show up to the red carpet looking like a nightmare. What do you want me to do? Lie? I think not.)
Freida Pinto: Obviously I’m going to start with perfection. Her makeup artist was smart enough to just let Freida’s gorgeous skin be the star. I see warm tones on her eyelids and navy eyeliner on her lower lash line — something I wouldn’t have necessarily put together but it really works. I love the bold natural brow but I probably would have added just a little more sheer color to her lip. And how adorable is her faux tucked-under bob? Totally changes her look and works with dress.janna Tags Celebrities, Celebrity Beauty, Red Carpet Beauty
It’s time to be bitchy and figure out my Celebrity Beauty Blind Item! Guess which diva-slash-actress went on a morning show this week looking like she was promoting a remake of Working Girl? We’re talking bangs at least 4 inches high and sprayed to the bejesus. This diva is usually flawless in the beauty department so you can imagine how shocked I was when I saw this incriminating photo. Aside from the sprayed to the sky bangs, her ends look like they’ve taken a beating from all the highlights and hot tools, making her hair appear dry and brittle.
What should she do? First of all, she needs to fire her hairstylist who could be stabbed in certain circles for trying to bring back the Staten Island 80s trend. Judging by this pic of him (it’s a him, right?), he’s trying to recreate his own rockin’ coif on our Diva. Second, our Diva needs to get herself a deep conditioning treatment at a salon. Third, she needs to follow up with a weekly mask like Phytocitrus Restructuring Mask for Color-Treated Hair ($38), which is perfect for treating overly-abused tresses. I mean come on… you would think a woman who demands everything in a hotel be white before she steps foot would expect a bit more from her beauty team.Posted by janna Tags Celebrities, Celebrity Beauty Blind Item, Celebrity Blind Beauty Item
Award season is in full swing and the starlets did not disappoint (for the most part) in bringing the glamour to the Golden Globes 2013 red carpet last night. Fifteen minutes into watching the red carpet coverage it was apparent that waves were going to be the biggest beauty trend. Some opted for loose, sexy romantic waves (a la Farrah Fawcett) like Claire Danes, Sarah Hyland, and Salma Hayek, while others went full-out Old Hollywood Glam like Connie Britton, Amy Adams, Rachel Weisz and Nicole Richie. Tons of red carpet beauties (Heidi Klum, Kelly Osborn, Jessica Alba, Isla Fisher, Megan Fox) decided to put a modern edge on the Old Glam look by sweeping the hair to one side. I also saw several lovely ladies sashaying at the opposite end of the spectrum with stick-straight locks like Kerry Washington, Stacy Keibler, Marion Cotillard, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julianna Margulies, and Debra Messing (the latter two opting for structured ponytails).
The makeup trends were a bit more all over the place… We saw the sultry smoky eye (almost always a perfect fit for the red carpet) done in intense dark liners on the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Catherine McPhee and Claire Danes while Michelle Dockery, Amanda Sayfried, and Kerry Washington rocked a softer, more diffused smoky eye with browns and purples. Unfortunately the “no makeup look” (also kindly called the “Fresh Face Look” by the media and not-so-kindly “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by me) reared its bland, boring head on the carpet last night, making victims Olivia Munn and Rosario Dawson look like they ran out of their rooms before the makeup artist had time to finish. Now I will say that Sienna Miller also sported the “no makeup look” but she’s so flawlessly gorgeous it worked.
