I admitted in my very first Drugstore Cowgirl post last year that I shamefully neglected drugstore beauty products since high school. Once I overcame my ignorance and embraced the treasure trove of amazing products found amongst the plastic and metal aisles, I quickly discovered favorites and integrated them into my daily routines. This post is the first in a series highlighting my short list of the best drugstore beauty products. Enjoy, my beauties!
1. Clean & Clear Instant Oil-Absorbing Sheets ($5) These bad boys are stashed in every handbag I own, taking the crown as my most essential summer beauty product. I don’t care how pretty the packaging is on your rice paper blotting sheets. I hate the way rice paper crinkles and feels, whereas the Clean & Clear Instant Oil-Absorbing Sheets are a soft film that visibly soak up shine without smudging makeup or leaving a powdery residue.
2. L’Oreal Sublime Sun Face Lotion SPF 50+ ($15) Fashionistas and beauty editors always stocked up on this super-thin power protector when traveling in Europe for its long-lasting, ultra-water resistant formula. Now available in the States, this oil-free sunscreen lotion is suitable for sensitive skin.

I don’t have much time to write, but how could I not update you on yesterday’s beauty binge blitz??? Check out the bottom right photo to see the beauty booty I scored yesterday. As soon as I got home, I sat on my bed with my legs-crossed, dumped my bag of goodies, and carefully examined and delighted in every item. I’m telling you, it put my childhood Halloween experiences to shame.
Thanks to my friend Molly, we started the day at Mountain Body, the Shangri-la of beauty product boutiques. Molly has been a long-time online customer since her first Mountain Body experience at Sundance a couple years ago. She knew I would fall in love with their products and that I would want to spend some time playing with the products, so she was sure to make it our first stop. Mountain Body carries other organic brands like Eminence (which we all know I love), but their own brand is the highlight of this boutique. Their gorgeous products are handmade with local ingredients like minerals, muds, and lake bed salts. They even have an Herbal Cosmetic Deli, featuring fresh masks and cleansers in chilled gelato tubs. My salesperson, Veronika, was nice enough to give me a deluxe sample of their cold cream, which took my makeup off easily and had a cooling, healing affect. Veronika even gave me a luxurious 4-step hand treatment that left my hands coated with an invisible moisture forcefield.
These products are too delicious to not devote a separate post. Expect my review of my favorite Mountain Body products by the end of the week. Their scrubs, creams, and balms are perfect for the harsh, cold weather!
After Mountain Body, we headed to the Lumene Lounge, where I got a fabulous mini-facial (see above left photo) and walked away with a generous gift bag full of products I will actually use. (They were also offering makeup applications from makeup artists, but I didn’t want to ruin my facial!) Then we headed to Chic Suite by EMWPR and stocked up on Tocca Beauty, Everyday Minerals, and I scored an adorable pair of knee-high socks and a hat for my handsome husband.
Before I knew it, I had to jump in a taxi and head to the Deer Valley St. Regis Remede Spa for a 90
minute Intraceuticals facial that gave the “Fire and Ice” at the Mauna Lani serious competition.
This is just a teaser! I must jump in the shower and sample some of yesterday’s spoils!

I’m not one to usually cry “miracle product” from the rooftops, but in this case I think I’ll have to bend. For those of you who read my blog, you know I suffer from sensitive, easily-irritated, skin. I take a sip of red wine, two seconds later I’m blotchy. I get a little stressed at work and I can literally feel the redness spreading over my cheeks. To be quite honest, most of the time my temperamental skin doesn’t even need a reason to turn on me. Like yesterday…
I got to my hotel room after a three-hour flight, only to glance in the mirror to find I looked like I got stuck in a wind storm. My face was red and irritated, and I hadn’t packed any soothing masks to save the day. Luckily, I happened to have a sample of Lumene Sensitive Touch 5 Min SOS Cream with me. I applied it to my red, angry skin and low and behold, just as advertised, within five minutes my skin was soothed and hydrated. No redness! And get this, it’s only $20!! Love it!!!
Obviously I ordered three bottles of this little miracle cream so I can put one at my desk, in my handbag, and in my bathroom.
There’s zero chance my skin will get the chance to have another temper tantrum if I’ve got this cream around. Take that, redness!Posted by janna Tags Lumene, Sensitive Skin
