Sometimes I have the worst luck… Today I woke up all all ready and excited for my Google+ Hangout (If you don’t know what that it is, it’s like a video chat that is broadcasted live on Google+ and streams to YouTube). It was hosted by the insanely beautiful (hate her!) Samantha Lim, Editor-in-Chief of the huge online fashion magazine FashionIndie, featuring myself, Christina Farrell, amazing makeup artist and founder of the The Makeup Blogger, and Stacy Reid, Founder and CEO of Tinte Cosmetics (which thanks to Stacy’s generosity I will be trying soon!).
So what happened? Well, Murphy’s Law reared its ugly head and my Internet decided to take a hiatus. So, unfortunately I missed the first few minutes of the Hangout and once I finally got into the Hangout I faded in and out and even froze a couple times (I could hear the others saying, “She’s a frozen kitten!”). Now my drama aside, Christina did an adorable tutorial for an 80s costume and Stacy walked through several different viable Halloween looks. You should definitely check it out here.
After the Hangout was over, I figured it would simply be a waste of a good kitty cat look if I didn’t do a YouTube tutorial! Ignore what you’re seeing on the runways… Unless you have Karlie Kloss’s bone structure, the “no makeup” look takes on more of an “Oops! I got all dressed up but I forgot to put on my makeup” look. You just got all those fabulous Fall clothes out of storage and they deserve to be celebrated with some sexy eye makeup. Luckily the top makeup brands didn’t toss all their pigments when they saw the “no makeup” look gain momentum in the February shows, instead they launched their Fall Collections with gorgeous, innovative products to help create the full spectrum of “going out” looks. Leave the “no makeup look” for the model-types and get your binge on:

When InStyle comes out with their “Best Beauty Buys” list I get that energy running through my veins, fingers twitching, looking around the room for the location of my wallet so I can covertly grab it without my husband taking notice. Lucky for our credit card bills I’ve already tried many of the 150 items that made the list. The majority of the products are incumbents, having won in their categories several years in a row. This doesn’t mean the editorial staff got lazy and just decided to recycle previous years’ lists. Like most beauty addicts, the editors probably have their favorite products and are sticking to what they love. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all old news — there are some choice newcomers and surprises like the Bliss Pore-Fector Gadget and the Ibiza Boar Bristle Brush (both of which I intend to buy).janna Tags Bliss, Cle de Peau, Clinique, Elta, Ibiza Boar Bristle, Smashbox
