“Game of Thrones” Crazy Braided Updo for Black Tie Event

Since we’re getting into high season for prom and weddings I decided a black tie wedding would be the perfect excuse to try a new hair look.  I was channeling the Khaleesi when I discussed my primal vision with Amanda Leone, stylist, makeup artist, and co-owner of The Kevin Charles Salon at the Four Season’s Biltmore in Montecito, CA.  “Vision” may be pushing it.  I told her about my dress — black, floor-length, empire waist with thin leather belts for shoulder straps that then wrap around my waist a couple times (basically Grecian-meets-S&M).  I then said I wanted it half-up with little braids and twists, kind of a deconstructed look.  That’s it. She took those couple sentences and created her own vision:

Just call me Khaleesi.

Amanda started out by applying Unite Session Whip ($25), a light fluffy mousse to give the hair some volume and hold. She then finger-combed through my hair Unite Lazer Straight ($26.95) which she completely swears by for blowouts, "It lessens the drying time, protects the hair, and locks in the straight." She then blew my hair straight with a big round brush and then got right into the braiding. She played around with a couple of different looks in the front but we agreed upon the standard french braid, and the right amount of volume and hair to pull back. Then Amanda's long nimble fingers went to work quickly creating fishtail braids and regular braids, loosening and distorting them to give them texture.

When she was done with her masterpiece, Amanda decided for my “down” hair that pin-straight would best compliment the look.  She quickly flat ironed the rest of my hair and voila!
