Worth the Hype: Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Mask

I feel like every magazine I’ve picked u  in the past month has touted the Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Mask ($45) as a ‘moisturizing breakthrough’. Now I tend to be cynical (shocking!) when I read about a new product in every single women’s rag — I figure either the company must have thrown one hell of a decadent launch party or sent out Chanel bags as a launch gift. (Yes, it’s done. Not for a peon like me but the editors at the big magazines sometimes receive ridiculous gifts from the beauty brands and tend to give editorial to big advertisers which is why you should be cautious when taking their recommendations. And don’t you worry your pretty little heads — if I ever become big-time know that a Chanel bag isn’t going to make me like a lipstick more)

Since every editor seemed to be in love with this sleeping mask it was obviously my Beauty Binge duty to investigate the situation further.  I found that the user reviews on Sephora were even more complimentary than the magazines (and I assure you these users didn’t attend the launch party or receive gifts) — “I am OBSESSED with this product. I use it every night and it has literally changed my life.” and “I have oily yet dehydrated skin prone to breakouts and this sleeping leave-on mask hydrated, calmed and nourished my skin.”

SOLD.

So to give you an idea of my latest skin drama… My skin seems to be throwing little tantrums to show me how upset it is about this pregnancy situation. My skin doesn’t do well with change (similar to my evil-yet-loveable big black cat name Spike who may go postal when the baby arrives) and has decided to lash out with redness and bumps on my forehead and chin and hot red dry patches on my cheeks. Now once the redness and bumps are attacked by my arsenal of calming skincare they tend to pipe down but those damn red dry patches on my cheeks gulp up any hydrating product I apply and are still dry to the touch. We’re talking creams on top of oils on top of serums — no-joke skincare routine.  At night I was piling on at least 5 moisturizing products and I looked like I had dipped my face in Vaseline before tucking into bed. The next morning, as soon as I woke up I would immediately touch my cheeks like it was Christmas morning and sure enough, just like a Jewish kid on Christmas morning, nothing.  Those damn patches were dry and irritated as ever, mocking me if you will.

I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that after one use of the Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Mask my skin was transformed but it was damn close to it.  First of all, for someone like me with irritated skin the instant cooling affect of this fluffy cream mask is divine.  It smells fresh and clean and reminds me of something out of my childhood that I can’t place.  The cream isn’t as thick as I thought (when I hear mask I think heavy) and easily smoothed over my skin. Every morning I woke up to more results. Low and behold it took 5 nights for the total transformation — I woke up on the 6th morning and my fingers immediately went to my cheeks where I found softened, plumped skin and I felt like I had finally woken up to a Christmas tree crowded with presents.

I am going to invest in this right away, because I have really dry skin, but it was been super bitchy lately and breaking out like I’m 13 again… Might as well try it!

[…] 3. Start a Strict Daily Regimen. Now’s the time to stop acting like you’re still in college. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR FALLING ASLEEP IN YOUR MAKEUP!!  Make sure you are thoroughly cleansing your skin at night. If you don’t have sensitive skin then invest in a Clarisonic ($199). These power-cleaner brushes really make a difference and trust me you’re going to need that brush after your makeup consults! If your skin tends on the dry or irritated side, after you cleanse your skin smooth on a nourishing face oil like Orico London’s Superico Organic Face Oil ($47).  My skin literally slurps up this hydrating oil and it calms my redness and banishes my dryness. In the morning follow with your usual regimen (that better include a separate sunscreen or I will hunt you down and kick your bridal ass). At night, apply a good eye cream like Sunday Riley Start Over Eye Cream ($85) which has really helped with my circles and fine lines, though it took a few weeks to see a difference so give it time. Then follow with the Superico Oil, and seal it all in with  Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Mask ($45) which you can read about why I recommend this soothing sleeping mask here. I finally bought the sleeping mask, and have been using it for a couple weeks now! I love you Janna… lol Seriously though! When I wake up after sleeping in this, my skin doesn’t feel overly oily, or sticky, it just feels… Perfect. I love it. And my skin does too. I’m still battling some fussiness on my chest, but I’m hoping between my salicylic acid cleanser, acne serum, and this mask, those spots will soon be a distant memory. 🙂

I received a sample of this product from Sephora on my last shopping trip to US. I returned after a week of dry US weather and over 30hrs of flying plus stress and my skin was dry and scaly. I found this sample and have been using it for 2 days twice a day and all scaliness has gone. It really works and has not irritated my sensitive skin.

Ladies ~ This product is not worth the money! Anything in jar packaging is unstable. As soon as the jar is opened for the first few times, any antioxidents in the cream become obsolete. ONLY buy moisturizers that have airtight pumps.

I know this is an older post…but I just had to comment. I’m 26 fairly healthy and very serious about my skin care. Over the last couple of months I say 6 to 7, I started having these ferocious nodular breakouts. I mean 5 or. 6 at a time were springing up on both sides of my face. I tried everything…after doing some research I self diagnosed and realized these breakouts had to be caused by my bodies lack of hydration and my skins lack of moisture. I got this as a sample from Sephora and never have I ever raved about a product so much. I tell anyone who will listen. I saw my skin plump up and calm down. Not 1 nodular flare up… Not 1!!! it’s been about 3 weeks and I’m afraid to call it a miracle
Though I just might do it anyway!
